Introduction to Cooperative Care Class
About this Class
What the heck is Cooperative Care, you ask? It's just the program for you and your dog if they struggle with handling and husbandry tasks at home or at the vet office. If any of the following sounds familiar, come join us!
- Your dog is miserable or fearful at the vet
- Nail trimming/ear cleaning/insert-triggger-here at home is a battle, and you find yourself avoiding it at all costs
- Your dog is sensitive to handling and husbandry tasks in general
- Your vet has asked you to muzzle train your dog and/or hire a trainer so visits are easier
- You have a dog who isn't exhibiting any issues but you're trying to stay ahead of any issues that could crop up (hooray!)
If any of this resonates with you, come join us! In this class, you’ll gain the skills to help make these experiences more comfortable for your dog, and we'll do some field trips at the end of the series to practice your new skills "in the wild". Bring your goals and husbandry-related grievances with you, along with any relevant gear you need help desensitizing your dog to (including muzzles). Let us help you and your dog work together through this process.
If you're still wondering what "Cooperative Care" is, the IAABC describes it as “training an animal to not only tolerate handling and husbandry procedures, but to be an active, willing participant in these experiences”, which we love! You can learn more about the concept on their: What is Cooperative Care?.
